What’s on in May? – The Fred Whitton challenge is on, this event is an endurance race what starts and finishes at Grasmere sports field, these cyclists train for any months in order to make sure they are fit for the event. They cycle 112 miles in 12 hours and may need some helpful cheering from the side of the road to help them finish in that 12 hour window! Cartmel Agricultural Show is held at Cartmel Park in Grange- Over –Sands and is one of the main agricultural shows held in the South Lake District. This event has entertainment for all ages, they have live music throughout the day and have judging of animals throughout the day these include, Horses, Cattle and sheep. They also have some fairground rides and stalls that you can get actively involved in and face painting and the chance to see real life animals like owls and those that are competing. There is also a chance to get some refreshments and food and enjoy them in the seating area all over the show. Information on ticket prices is on the website.

The lakes international comic arts festival is held in a variety of locations across Kendal, they have several exhibitions that showcase individual’s pieces of work, it allows the general public to see the work that others do. The festival also puts on workshops for all ages, in learning how to draw and how to develop their skills if they want to be an artist, they also hold talks from artists about how they have become who they are today and the work that they have done, it is a wonderful event and gives the town a nice atmosphere.  More information can be found here at the website.
