Westmorland Red Squirrel Society

Westmorland Red Squirrel Society

This month we are launching a new package “Trail of Squirrel Nutkin” to create awareness for the Westmorland Red Squirrel Society. The society was formed in 2005 to conserve native red squirrels in the South East Cumbrian area.

They are raising awareness about the threats that red squirrels encounter and this enables the society to work with local businesses like ourselves to make sure that they help towards eliminating the threats to their survival. One way they do this is by making sure that they can control grey squirrels and to keep the two populations apart and to control the spread of greys. As there is already a risk to the squirrels that are already co-existing, this puts the Red Squirrels in danger as the grey squirrels will replace the reds and this is one of the main reasons why the Westmorland Red Squirrel Society want to make sure that they can minimise that risk and improve their survival.

If you would like any more information in the work that Westmorland Red Squirrel Society does check out their website. You can also help the society by making a donation or booking with us today!
