Thursday 21st July saw the premiere of the much- anticipated short film, ‘Celebrating Beatrix Potter’. The premiere was held at Lindeth Howe Hotel which the famous children’s author bought for her mother in 1915.
Beatrix Potter is rightly recognised, along with Kendal mint cake and Herdwick sheep, as one of the icons of the Lake District. On the 28th July 2016 we celebrate what would have been her 150th birthday.
Beatrix had a strong attachment to the Lake District and Lindeth Howe which dated back to her childhood. Between 1911 and 1913 the Potter family rented the Lindeth Howe Country Estate in Bowness on Windermere. The house is set in six acres of gardens, and from its windows Beatrix would have had breath -taking views overlooking Lake Windermere and the rolling Fells beyond.
‘Celebrating Beatrix Potter’ will be released on the hotel’s website (www.lindeth-howe.co.uk) on 28th July at 8am to celebrate what would have been Beatrix’s 150th Birthday and you can read more about it on our Blog page.
