Cartmel Agricultural Show is held at Cartmel Park in Grange- Over –Sands and is one of the main agricultural shows held in the South Lake District. This event has entertainment for all ages, they have live music throughout the day and have judging of animals throughout the day these include, Horses, Cattle and sheep. They also have some fairground rides and stalls that you can get actively involved in and face painting and the chance to see real life animals like owls and those that are competing. There is also a chance to get some refreshments and food and enjoy them in the seating area all over the show. Information on ticket prices is on the website.

Things to see and do with the Lake District Sheep Dog Trials, this event is held in Ings a small village on the outskirts of Windermere, it is an annual event and is celebrating their 118th show.  The event will open at 9am and finish at 5pm. The event includes open dog trials,   hound trials, Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, Fox hound and Terrier Show, Craft displays and demonstrations and offer a range of Catering. The admission is £3.00 Per Adult and children go free, if you are interested there is more information on the website.

Rydal show – Spectators are welcome at all events. Admission to the show is £6.00 for Adults and £2.00 for children, if you are driving the car parking is free, there is a bus stop at the entrance to the show on the 555 bus route. Rydal show is a great experience and has over 20 trade stands for some country life shopping and this is from clothing and accessories to the art displays.  There is catering at the event that uses local produce from a seated catering tent and they provide sandwiches, cakes, Cumberland sausages and burgers to go. There is also a licensed bar that opens from 11am to 7pm this information can be found at the website.

Rusland Valley Horticultural Show & Sports – The Rusland Valley Horticultural Show is held on the third Saturday in August in Whitestock Meadow. The marquees are filled with exhibits of horticulture, home produce, hand crafts and photography and film.  They also have the sports field that is used for fell races, track races plus events like tug-of-war. Children competitions cover things like fancy dress and there’s even a pet competition. This is an opportunity to win one of thirty prizes and to see the schedule, check here.

Hawkshead Agricultural show – Is held at Hawkshead farm, Hawkshead show is to be held on the 23rd of August 2016, and it is set in the Vale of Esthwaite what is famous for Beatrix Potter & William Wordsworth and is situated half a mile north of our quaint village. There are plenty of attractions for people all day, there is judging in the morning of horses and then jumping classes in the afternoon. The show also judge sheep, dogs and cattle. This show is a must see as it has home produce, flowers & vegetables and art and craft there is enough there for everyone, especially with over 50 trade stalls, so there’s plenty for the family to see and do.
