Ever wondered how magnets work, where anti-gravity comes from and what’s inside those mysterious black holes? Come along to our interactive science exhibition ‘Feel the Force’ and discover for yourself, with experiments and machines to have a go on.
Feel the force is a Children’s activity event aimed at all ages and creatively designed by Science Projects Ltd.

The legacy of Joe Tasker at Keswick museum and art gallery

The mountain heritage trust is delighted to present the first exhibition celebrating the life and achievements of pioneering mountaineer Joe Tasker. Savage arena: The legacy of Joe Tasker is a heritage lottery fund funded exhibition and launched on 8th September 2016. It is now open to the public at Keswick museum and art gallery until the end of May 2017
Joe Tasker’s disappearance on Everest with Pete Boardman in 1982 remains a mystery nut his legacy as a pioneering mountaineer, as well as a writer, thinker, photographer and filmmaker lives on.
Highlights include, Joe’s first climbing diary, his original handwritten draft for savage arena and the rucksack used on his final exhibition.

The search for life in space:
Friday 6th January – Sun 30th April 2017
A new era of space exploration has begun. It’s the search to find something that changes everything…signs of life somewhere else in the universe.
The film will make you re-examine such fundamental questions as: “Where did we come from?”, “How did we get here?” and “Are we alone?”

The art of Polish paper cuts at the Beacon museum
Wednesday 18th January – Sunday 19th March 2017
New for 2017 at the Beacon Museum, Whitehaven.
‘Wycinanki’ or paper cuts are a traditional Polish folk art. They first appeared in the 19th century, when they decorated the inside walls of rural homes. New paper cuts were made every year at Easter time.
Adults: £5.00, Concession: £4.00, Child £2.00, Family (2+2) £12.00
Opening times are 10.00 – 16.30.
