Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel nestles on a hillside overlooking Lake Windermere, and yet is only a mile from the bustling Lake District village of Bowness on Windermere. It is set in 6 acres of sweeping gardens, with breath-taking views of the English countryside and a wonderful sun terrace. 

We are truly a leisure hotel with a unique history, and over 30 spacious, luxury bedrooms and suites, which all have their own individual style and views.

Our cosy lounges overlooking the gardens give you a peaceful view as you enjoy afternoon tea, tasty snacks or coffee & biscuits. These relaxing lounges provide a comfortable and snug retreat, even on the rainiest of days.

Our indoor pool is probably best described as bijou and we have an amazing sports remedial therapist.

  • Just lovely! Really enjoyed our stay at Lindeth Howe. I stayed with my 11 year old daughter, my friend and her 3 year old grandson. Having a near 3 year old with us I was a tad worried but alongside a 11 year old Beatrix Potter fan we decided to go with it. Need not have been concerned at all, we were all made very welcome. With separate dining area which meant others were not disturbed but little one would wander was a perfect solution. Thank you so much for a very enjoyable stay.

  • Lovely hotel in the perfect location Just spent 2 nights at this hotel which was lovely. The rooms were large, clean and cosy. We had a great view of the mountains! The food was excellent and the location was perfect!

The house was once owned by Beatrix Potter, who illustrated Timmy Tiptoes and Pigling Bland here, and our logo is actually in her handwriting!
